Swimming Explanation

As we Walked to Glen Innes Aquatic centre on Monday I was wondering what we might learn, our maths group exit the school grounds after morning tea. I usually get put in group 2 and never enter group 3 but I don’t mind it is much more fun in group 2.

Two by two got into the pools and the instructors tested our skills to see what level we are in or group. Guess which group I got in yeap number 2, here is a list of what they tested us. Hands at the top of a board and kicking, hands at the bottom heads on our chest and kicking, arm circles, freestyle.

The next day we did something different. Lora group two’s instructor said “today we are going to see you do freestyle two at a time and you can do 10 laps if you want to.” The freestyle started also to make it fair, if you are tired you can turn over and do backstroke if you want to. Me and Taimana did 8 laps.

The day after Tuesday We did the same thing on Monday but no freestyle we added backstroke and rocket arms. My badest swimming technique was rocket arms, you had to keep your chin on your chest otherwise you will sink like a rock. Everything else was perfection.

It was wednesday and we forgot about backstroke and added breathing position. The 3 main steps to do with this is Brain,Goggle and Cheek, so your brain must be touching the water also check and goggles should be out of the water oh and one hand in the middle of your board. Shoulder facing to the ceiling too.

Swimming was awesome in fact I loved it. The reason why we learn to swim is because New Zealand is surrounded by water so if kids get lost in the sea they won’t drown they will just float because they will know how to swim.

Camp 2014

The first day of camp was going to be amazing. As I got out of my bed I ate my breakfast, changed into the clothes I choose to wear for camp and of I went to school. This camp was only for year 5 and 6 oh and we do this just for the experience.

Our first activity was cooking so Miss Tito divided us into three groups. She handed each group a bowl and mixing material, she said “we are going to cook corn fritters.” So first we had flour put into our bowl then a mixture of corn and egg also some more ingredients that I can’t remember. After that we cooked marshmallows and squish two biscuits on it. Yum!!!

After that we played top town here is what we had to do
1.Going over the swamp, Using cardboards.
2.Water Fight,Throwing water bombs to the other team
3.Longboard, Going over the swamp with long boards
4.Under the tunnel
5.Catapult, Catapult tennis balls on to the others teams base and get 10 hits
6.Sponge water, Getting water into a sponge and take it over to another bucket
7.Put up the flag once you are done go back to your base and put up the flag.
Eventually the other team won and there name was Care bears oh well doesn't matter it was just a game. The problem that how we got lost was going over the swamp, the water fight was fun but we got 7 people out of the battlezone also the Care Bears got 3 out of the battlezone oh and our team is called Caretakers. Care Bears bate us again on the longboard so that left us behind but the catapult was hard. A direct hit gets you 2 points but if it rolls on the other teams base then you get 1 point. We cheated a little bit but we were neck to neck. We made a chainsaw to keep the water from spilling but we were almost there until Care bears had already finished but we had too so we quickly went back under the tunnel and over the swamp with the longboards but we were too late Care bears had put up their flag.

I have enjoyed camp, it was a great experience. My favourite activity was kayaking also Mangere Pools. That was really fun. Here is a link about kayaking make sure you leave a comment.http://pesaaronk.blogspot.co.nz/2014/03/camp-2014-kayak.html

Camp 2014 Kayak

It was a magnificent day and just the perfect day for camp. The Tents were put up and we were ready to rumble. As the day finished I thought of my favorite activity of the day,Kayaking. I was taught a lot from single Kayak to Double kayak.

To control a kayak for doubles the person in the front is the speed controller and the back person is the direction person. If both want to go straight the direction controller copy's the speed controller. Oh and to turn you have paddle on your right to go to your left or paddle on your left to go right. That is all I will write another post about camp on Monday.

The Birds nest

My reading group was told to read a story then answer some questions. Here they are, please leave a comment.

The Bird Nest
Tom woke up and turned on the lamp. He pushed the sheet and Woollen rugs off himself and staggered to the Window, which was partly open. He looked up to see a full moon and there, in the moonlight, sitting on a nest in a massive gum tree, was a mother bird and her noisy baby chicks. The nest, made from twigs, straw, wool and dead grass, was swaying wildly from side to side. As it did so, the mother bird tried to calm her frightened young ones by chirping softly to them.

Life Cycle of a Monarch Butterfly

At first the female butterfly lays an egg the size of a sesame seed usually under a leaf. After a few days the baby caterpillar starts squirming, it starts chewing one side of the shell making the hole bigger to emerge into the new world and just two millimetres long. It’s first snack is the shell. Then it starts exploring for milkweed leaves, while it’s eating it gets bigger so it will need new clothes to fit him. To fix this problem it will shed several times. Also each shedding starts the mark of a new life that is called an instar. When it has shedded 6 times it will shed one more time by looking for the underside of a twig. It sticks with its silk and starts the pupation and will be in a strong kind of shell that is called a pupa, then after a while it turns into a butterfly. It’s wings are smaller but after half an hour or so fluids are pumped into the wings. When wings are ready to take of the new Monarch butterfly flies into the world feeding on nectar and the life cycle will start all over again.

Use your WITS Explanation

We were told to write an explanation about using your wits. Read the writing and comment below what is a explanation.

Your WITS stand for Walk away, Ignore it, Talk about it and Seek help. Using your WITS helps you because if you ever get bullied choose one of the use your wits I think you should choose Talk about it then you can make friends and maybe your future might be bright.

You Walk Away by just maybe play on the playground and forget about what he/she is saying. If you walk away it will help you by not getting into trouble too. If you don’t Walk away you might  cause a big fight.

You Ignore it by pretending you can’t hear them or not replying. If you do reply with a nasty word there might be a fight and you will get into one big problem with the other person. Thats why you should try to Ignore it even if it is the f word just ignore.

It is important to talk about it because it can solve the problem also you won’t need to get anymore detentions. You might even make friends but if you don’t talk about it this argument will maybe go on forever. Maybe just think about it a whole year writing detention slips.

When it gets too hard you can seek help by telling a teacher or ask a friend. If you seek help you can also solve a problem and if they keep on carrying on with what they are doing bad then seek help again.

Use your WITS helps me by not getting into trouble, not getting into fights and not getting into detentions. Instead it can also help you by making friends, joking around and maybe even having fun. So make sure you Use your WITS.

Huntly

On Sunday my family and I had planned to go on a trip to Huntly which is near to Hamilton. We stopped to have a nice relaxing picnic on the shore of lake Hakanoa. We had rice with meat and we also had grapes. After that my dad and I played with the frizzbee, our record was 30. Next we spotted a park with swings, monkey bars and some kind of swinging flyingfox. Finally we played soccer. We stayed for maybe 2 or 3 hours. After that we went over the Tainui bridge and went to Ngaruawahia, Waikato. We played on the park and ate watermelons and suddenly a big splash came out of the Waikato river. I was wondering what it was until it was time to go home.

My Stetecial Gragh

I was investigating the windspeed on the 18th. From the time of 10 o'clock to 1 o'clock. I found out that 10 and 11 o'clock were the exact same windspeed, 26 km/h. I also found out that 12 o'clock was the lowest windspeed, 20 km/h.
Try and find out something else and comment bellow. I think you should choose the top one because...
