Team 4 Trip to Kelly Tarltons

As I woke up I was so excited because we were going to Kelly Tarltons next to Mission bay. Once I arrived to Pt England school I went to Room 13. The door opened and I rushed in to put down the chairs and get ready for our trip that team 4 were going on. We left at 8.30am and returned at lunch time. Why were we going to Kelly Tarltons? Because it is part of our topic and we are investigating about Antarctica. Now that the bus was here, we were ready to go.

“Kelly Tarltons” I said out loud. First we went in the school room with Janice. She talked a lot about Antarctica for one hour. Antarctica is the coldest, driest most windiest place on earth. Plus she mostly talked about the animals in Antarctica and I discovered cool stuff about penguins. Like how the Gentoo penguin need’s a girlfriend then he spots one, he picks up a black rock and brings the rock to her. If the girl friend likes him she picks it up and thats it, they are engaged. At the end I asked an extremely good question and that was,”Is Antarctica colder than Uranus or Neptune”. She did not know but I was going to look it up, and the answer is no Antarctica is 89.6 o C, Uranus is 224.o c Neptune is 225.o C 328.o F.

The Sun was shining brightly over the adventurous Okahu bay playground. As Room 13 and Room 16 walked along the tall wet grass, water squished under our shoes.I saw people zooming along on the flying fox screaming “aaaaaaaaaaah”. Also there was an Octopus, Merry go round, swings and climbing ropes.

It was glowing blue as we walked down to the school room and some people were being silly. Miss Lavakula grumbled, “Stop it, if Mr Burt our principal sees you like this he will be very cross”. “What a disappointment.” We started walking and to my amazement we were wandering through a replica of Scott hut, “Wow” I thought this is what Janice talked about. I was amazed with what they had to keep themselves warm in the olden days. “Heeeeeeelp” I cried as I marched through the spinning tunnel of Fake ice. Dizzy, Mizzy, Whizzy and swizzy I felt when I got off. The first thing we saw as we exited the tunnel was the King and Gentoo penguins. “Vroom”, one gentoo penguin went past by very fast, along the other side of the glass. We got to see them on the snow. On the way in my mind I was repeatedly saying “Oh, I so want to be a Gentoo penguin”. Anyways so when you go next to the viewing window,”oh I am going to go there”a penguin will say and then it will be pointing his beak at you. “Oh”I said with excitement. “Look at the size of that fish man”. I rushed down and suddenly I saw three amazing short tail stingrays. Two of them had a fight. Shark tunnel was next,Long ones big ones and small ones too many man how would I ever get a shot of one if it is dark. In the middle of the ride the travelator stopped so we had to walk around. Fish gallery with so much fish I took many pictures. At the end it was time to go. I felt so happy and hope next year they have new things for us to look at. Plus I wanted to go in the moving thing but too bad. “Well bye”.
